You guys come here means you can speak at least everyday English conversation, don't you?
I have US$ 200K in my bank now. Since I've been working for about 14 years in Japanese society and recently realized that I have to enjoy my one time life.
Consequently, I've just decided to obtain Top 50 MBA from next year. Do you have any university you can recommend?
Yes, you are right. Holding MBA doesn't mean you can be top executive. I just want to have fun in the US, so I don't need (actually can't) to study at top 10 business school. You can simpliy calculate why I have JPY 24,000K. Average 1 year saving JPY 2,000K x 12 years. I started saving money since I was 25 years old. I still have been working in UK based company in Japan.
It doesn't matter any university will be suitable, since you just want have fun living in US, i wish you good luck ! You remind of my 20years ago coming to NYC with that kind of money with expectation. Now I've gotton everything that I'd ever hoped.
Appreciate your advise and message! I've ever stayed in Saint Marks Place & Alphabet Ave. for 2 weeks about 10 years ago. NYC was memorable city for me and excited me to learn English. I hope you will continue your challange & success in the States.
For your point of view, Education is your own Investment. Agree! I feel like I want to learn & experience more with age. I want to have fun to learn the BUSINESS and have fun to experience the cosmopolitan city in the States. When I was younger, I studied to graduate the University. Now, I want to learn to use what I'll learn for my 45 more years life.
You guys come here means you can speak at least everyday English conversation, don't you?
Have you taken TOEIC before? I know a lot of university graduates from US, UK, and Canada, but those my friends have never taken it before. From my experience working in UK based company for years, I think I should mark at least 900 score in TOEIC to improve my English skill. How do you guys think?
How long are u gonna stay in US? Do you wanna get MBA?If u want,u dont need TOEIC.TOEIC is only for Japanese company. Are u gonna get job in Japan after you leave US?
I just thought what u say is contradiction. You`d been working at UK company in Japan right? I think you`ve already got TOEIC or your job didn`t need english?
Yes, you are right! What I've been mentioning above are contradiction. My thinking is always change, so I've writing whatever I feel as of now.
I've never taken TOEIC before, but I'm working in UK company. When I had the job interview, they had a good impression of me, so I've been working for the company for years. Japanese staff is less than 10 out of over 10K employees, so I must use english everyday by e-mail, tel conference, business trip to out side of Japan at least once every 2 months.
Depends on where you live in the States, buying an apartment or house is not so expensive. Safety Inspection is only about 30 bucks a year and gasoline is 3 times cheaper compare to Japan, so no problem to have 2 or 3 cars. To keep the same living standard and enjoy rest of my life, I would like to have a Jab in the States. Annual salary is hopefully at least US$ 60K. I want to ask my company to send me to States, but I don't think I can bring at least US$ 1.2 million of profit to current company, so I have to think of getting new job.
>My thinking is always change, so I've writing whatever I feel as of now. 私の考えはいつも小銭です。 have+〜ingって見たことない as of now なんて回りくどいこと言わずに、at present とか もっと簡単にnowだけとか。
If u’ve been working for the UK company speaking English & wanna make only $60K or so, I would say that forget about going back to school or TOEIC. Just come to US & look for a job!
I guess most Japanese people are not so generous to the Japanese who communicate in English simpy because they tend to poke grammer or pronunciations. Narrowminded!! English is merely a tool that everyone is supposed to use.
I think that money (the money in hand) is all right. I think that the English had better be studied a little more. Perhaps I think that one after I study on my own can save money to some extent in Japan than I come to U.S.A. and learn English. (I know the which I fail, and Japanese, returned without I remain in the same class for another year for years, and can pay off the expensive tuition.) An aim thinks that the degree that can apply for an American university with a mark of TOEFL just deserves to be the first step of study in this place. Because I think that a collection of problems appears in various ways in Japan, I repeat it by oneself, and please try to challenge it. From the circumference even if some says that opposite, can walk one's life only by oneself after all. Depending on your perseverance, I think that how, and but a way opens out. Please please do its best.
Hi, I wonder if you are still checking this site. I'm a Japanese who lives in United States for six years. You probably know more English words more than I do. But I just would like to tell you about my experience. American English that Americans are speaking is very different from the one that we learn at language school. I was very shocked. We just need experiences of life in America to learn. While you are listening the same expression, you will get used to using and listening the American English. It might be a good idea to buy Grammer book that was writen by American. I think American text books are so organized, it is easy for me to understand. The way they teach English grammer in America is very different from the way English teachers teaches in Japan. 38 years old is not too late to study abroad. I'm 42, but I am a part time student while I have a full time job... Go for it!!

Maybe this is too late for 1, but I personally recommend you EMBA. At your age, 2 yr blank could be a heavy risk on your career especially if you plan to come back to Japan after the graduation.
